Special Olympics Northern California hosts year-round fundraising events in order to support the sports training and competition opportunities provided to over 16,000 Special Olympics athletes at no cost to them or their families.  Below are our past signature events.   For a list of all our upcoming fundraising events, check out our 2013 fundraising page.  

 

2013 PAST EVENTS

 

February 9, 2013 - Crab Feed

The event raised over $10,000 for Special Olympics!  This event is always a sell out!  Check back soon for our 2014 date and on-line ticket sales.  

 

 

 

February and March, 2013 - Polar Plunges

Our plunges raised over $430,000 with more than 1,800 participants!  If you missed it this year, you'll want to be a part of it next year!   Check back soon for 2014 dates and on-line registration!

 

 

March 1 - 3, 2013 - Blazent Celebrity Winterfest

This action packed weekend brought together corporate teams for a little friendly head to head racing down the slopes of Diamond Peak Ski resort!   Check out a recap of the 2013 event.  Save the Date for 2014- February 28 - March 2, 2014

 

 

April 6, 2013 - All American Lip Sync Show

Hosted by the Oakland Police Department, attendees were treated to a wonderful night of performances by celebrity impersonators.

 

 

May 27, 2013 - Color Me Rad 5k Fun Run

Taking place at the Sacramento Raceway, this is the most colorful fundraiser we've ever had!   Participants started out in clean white shirts and throughout the run were coated with color bombs of every color under the sun.  Special Olympics recieved a portion of the registration proceeds and supplied 140 volunteers.  Watch for the event again next year.

 

 

June 9, 2013 - Bike the Bridges

Over 500 cyclists participated in the 4th annual Bike the Bridges.  Riders had the choice of a 25 mile, 100K or Century ride ride over the Benecia and Carquinez bridges.  Through the fundraising efforts of our riders, $60,000 was raised for for our Special Olympics athletes.  For more information about this year's event and to view pictures, click here.   

 

 

2012 PAST EVENTS

February 17, 2012 - Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament

Taking place in Scotts Valley, professional dealers made this a top notch event for participants with great prizes.

 

 

July 20 & 21, 2012 - Over the Edge

Thrill seekers rappelled down the outside of the Grand Hyatt San Francisco, raising a minimum of $1,250 to do it!

 

 

July 28, 2012 - Power Pull

The Power Pull was a  competitive event made up of rivaling teams pulling a Central Concrete Truck, filled with gravel weighing approximately 38,000 pounds, and a Sunnyvale DPS Fire Truck filled with water weighing approximately 66,000 pounds.  Registration is now open for the 2013 event taking place on July 20, 2013!

 

 

​August 17, 2012 - Police in Pursuit

 Law Enforcement officers from the Monterey Bay region raised a minimum of $750 for the chance to race other officers in a 12 lap drag race.  Save the date for 2013 - August 30th!

 

 

September 17, 2012 - High Tech Golf Challenge

This annual high-profile golf tournament provides corporate sponsors the opportunity to bring clients, customers and employees together at the renowned Olympic Club Golf Course all while supporting a great cause.   Save the date for 2013 - September 23, 2013.  More information.

 

September 30, 2012 - Bridge to Bridge

Thousands of runners and walkers turned out for the 36th Annual Bridge to Bridge Run/Walk.  The event started at the Ferry Building at the Embarcadero and ended at Crissy Field raising $25,000 for Special Olympics Northern California.  Among the runners and walkers were approximately 15 Special Olympics athletes.
