The Run
Be a hero! Escort the Special Olympics Torch, the “Flame of Hope” in Your Community on its Journey to the SUMMER GAMES 2023.
Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) encompasses a number of events and fundraising initiatives throughout the year including Tip-A-Cops, Polar Plunges and more. At its core is the RUN itself.
The Run is a running event in which law enforcement personnel and Special Olympics athletes carry the Flame of Hope to the Opening Ceremony of local, regional and even international competitions. Law enforcement agencies raise funds and work together to run the Flame of Hope through the streets of their respective communities while raising awareness for Special Olympics.
The Run to Summer Games
Thousands of law enforcement personnel participate in the Northern California Torch Run each year. The Final Leg arrivers at the much anticipated Opening Ceremony.
Running in the Final Leg Torch Run was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I enjoy all of the special friendships with law enforcement and the athletes.

Runs Around the World
In Northern California, the annual Torch Run takes place in June and culminates at the Opening Ceremony for our largest competition of the year: the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games. The Summer Games also includes the Parade of Athletes through the Law Enforcement Wall of Honor and law enforcement personnel awarding athletes with medals throughout the weekend.
The Torch Run takes place at national and international competitions and is known as the Final Leg. The Final Leg is comprised of law enforcement personnel from different delegations running through the surrounding Games area with local athletes.
