Special Olympics Northern California (SONC) relies on the support and dedication of more than 21,000 volunteers every year to help empower children and adults with intellectual disabilities through sports.
Volunteer capacities are varied and include volunteer coach, event volunteer, office volunteer, corporate volunteer and more. If you want to help, there’s a place for you!
Some of our volunteers have incredible talents and donate their time and specialty to Special Olympics. We are thankful to recently utilize the mastery of five local photographers at the 2018 Summer Games who helped capture the excitement, triumph and spirit of the competition.
Photographers David Grube, Eileen Johnson, Jane Postiglione, Stephen Busch and George Ziser braved the extreme heat and gave up their weekends to take captivating shots of our athletes while they competed in bocce, tennis, swimming and track and field at UC Davis. Check out their photos
Our athletes train hard and give it their all in competition – and we’re grateful to David, Eileen, Jane, Stephen and George for helping to immortalize their efforts through photos. On behalf of the athletes and entire SONC family, thank you to our amazing volunteers for sharing their hearts and talents for Special Olympics!
