SONC Athlete Curtis of Santa Clara is an experienced long-distance runner and has continued training throughout the last year. Curtis regularly works out at West Valley College, where he recently (figuratively) ran into National Track & Field Hall of Famer Don Bowden.
Don competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics and was the first United States-born athlete to run a mile within four minutes. He went to high school in San Jose and attended the University of California, Berkeley.
Don noticed Curtis’ running proficiency and the two elite athletes met and chatted about the sport that they love.
