2025-26 Volunteer of the Year Awards

The Volunteer of the Year award is the highest recognition given to a Special Olympics Northern California (SONorCal) volunteer, celebrating those who go above and beyond to support our athletes, programs, and mission. This award acknowledges individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership, and impact within the SONorCal community.

Know someone who deserves this honor? We accept nominations from athletes, families, coaches, and fellow volunteers. If you know a volunteer who has made an extraordinary impact, submit a nomination today!

Nominees are notified and recognized via SONorCal media channels, while award winners are honored at the upcoming SONorCal Summer Games.

Eligibility

Volunteers: All registered volunteers are eligible, as well as individuals with an ongoing, established relationship with SONorCal staff and programs.
Previous Nominees: Past nominees are eligible again as long as they meet the current award criteria.
Past Winners: Volunteers who have won in the past five years are not eligible for another award, but they will still be acknowledged if nominated.
