Health & Wellness Volunteer Opportunities
General Day-of-Event Volunteer
Assists with fitness programming or health screenings (in a non clinical capacity) for a single event.
Clinical Day-of-Event Volunteer
Healthcare students and professionals who assist with health screenings in a clinical capacity for a single event.
Health Management Team (HMT) Volunteer
Health Management Team (HMT) members are volunteers who have experience with Special Olympics events and can help organize our Health & Wellness events. The HMT works closely with staff at events, but may also supervise volunteers and/or particular aspects of an event. HMT Members typically agree to help support from two to four events during the course of a year.
Clinical Director*
Healthcare professionals who coordinate local Healthy Athletes screenings and events, hosting at least one event per year.Clinical Directors are doctors, clinicians or other experts in their respective healthcare fields who volunteer their time to support the health and well-being of Special Olympics athletes. We rely on Clinical Directors to lead Healthy Athletes® screenings and help change the landscape of care for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Fitness Director*
Volunteers who help lead inclusive fitness programs like Fitness Seasons, Walking Club practice, Young Athletes, and Performance Stations. Requires a seasonal commitment (6–8 weeks). “Fitness professionals work with us to train, educate and motivate the Special Olympics community with a goal of adopting a healthy lifestyle. Whether it be through individual sessions, seasons or lending their knowledge, Fitness Professionals are key to helping Special Olympics athletes succeed on the field and lead healthy, fulfilled lives.”
