A full spectrum of health screenings offered at no cost to competing athletes & community members (non-competing athletes). These non-invasive assessments are conducted in a supportive environment and also serve as a valuable training opportunity for medical students and healthcare professionals, who work alongside licensed clinicians to gain hands-on experience in inclusive care.

How many screenings can you complete?
Every athlete who checks in and participates in at least one Healthy Athletes screening will receive a Healthy Athletes medal.
Athletes who complete 6–7 screenings will unlock:
- A Healthy Athletes Santa Clara pin
- Stickers
- Entry into a raffle for additional Healthy Athletes swag
Plus, many screening areas have their own giveaways and prizes!

Fit Feet provides free foot and ankle screenings to help athletes identify potential concerns, learn about proper foot care, and receive guidance on appropriate shoe and sock fit to support healthy movement and athletic performance.
Our clinical volunteer team evaluates foot and ankle health, discusses footwear recommendations, and provides education to help athletes stay active and comfortable both on and off the field.

Athlete Incentive:
Athletes who participate in Fit Feet will receive a pair of New Balance socks and/or Healthy Athletes-branded socks (while supplies last).

FUNfitness provides physical therapy examinations and screens for flexibility of hamstring, calf, shoulder rotator and hip muscles.

Athlete Incentive:
Athletes who participate in FUNfitness will receive a Special Olympics Northern California branded cooling towel. Athletes who would benefit from one may also receive a TheraBand resistance band to support continued fitness and exercise at home (while supplies last).

Health Promotion provides tips on how to improve and maintain good health and sports performance and athletes will receive fun giveaways to help promote wellness.

Athlete Incentive:
Athletes who participate in Health Promotion will receive a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and lip balm (chapstick) to help support healthy hydration and sun safety habits (while supplies last).

Healthy Hearing provides hearing screenings and education to help athletes better understand their hearing health. Athletes have the opportunity to receive a hearing screening, learn about hearing protection, and connect with resources that support healthy hearing throughout their lives.

Athlete Incentive:
Athletes who participate in Healthy Hearing will receive a pair of ear plugs and a Healthy Athletes keychain pouch, perfect for carrying ear plugs, lip balm, medication, hearing aid batteries, or other favorite health essentials (while supplies last).

Opening Eyes provides vision screenings performed by eye care professionals to help athletes better understand their eye health and visual performance. Athletes receive assessments of visual acuity, eye alignment, eye health, and other vision-related concerns, along with education and referrals for follow-up care when needed.
Through Opening Eyes, many athletes gain access to vision care resources that can improve performance in sports, school, work, and everyday life.

Athlete Incentive:
Athletes who do not require a prescription may receive sunglasses onsite.
Athletes who are identified through the screening as needing corrective lenses may also be eligible to receive prescription eyeglasses at no cost through the Opening Eyes program. These glasses will be shipped to the address we have on file, and it typically takes approximately three months for us to receive and distribute them to athletes. Address changes will need to be made onsite during the screening process.

Special Smiles provides dental examinations, personal oral hygiene instruction, a free toothbrush and sport mouth guards as needed to help prevent dental injuries.

Athlete Incentive:
Athletes who participate in Special Smiles will receive an oral hygiene kit, including a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss (while supplies last).

Strong Minds focuses on mental wellness education and emotional well-being, helping athletes learn strategies to support stress management, confidence, and positive mental health.
Through interactive activities and conversations, athletes are encouraged to explore tools that help build resilience, reduce stress, and support overall emotional well-being in sport and everyday life.
There is also an additional mental health screening (Core LD) that athletes can opt into, which covers topics such as anxiety, depression, and other mental health-related concerns, providing an opportunity for further support and resources if needed.
